RFQ CONTROL / CNC MACHINING INSIGHTS
A material substitution is a drawing change, not a purchase-order footnote. Before an RFQ is updated, buyers should make the material, finish, mating and inspection implications clear in the controlled package.
Update the controlled drawing
Name the material in the released PDF and align the model, drawing revision and RFQ reference. Avoid relying on an email-only change or a superseded quotation.
Our material callout guide explains the information that makes a material requirement reviewable.
Check related requirements
Confirm whether the change affects finish, heat-treatment support, mating interfaces or critical dimensions. State those requirements directly; do not assume they remain unchanged without review.
For finish-related information, see our anodizing and heat-treatment guide.
Keep inspection tied to function
If the changed material affects a functional interface or critical feature, include the inspection expectation in the controlled package. Our inspection requirements guide covers what buyers can identify before production release.
