Start with function, not a default grade

Material selection should reflect the part’s loading, environment, mating components and finish requirement. The drawing should name the alloy and any condition or standard the project requires.

When 6061 may be considered

6061 is commonly specified for general engineering components where a balanced combination of machinability, corrosion resistance and finishing compatibility is useful. Confirm the exact grade and condition with the customer before quotation.

When 7075 may be considered

7075 is often evaluated where a higher-strength aluminum alloy is required. Material selection still needs a project-specific review because geometry, finishing, tolerance, quantity and operating environment affect the manufacturing plan.

What to include in your RFQ

  • Required material grade and any applicable condition or standard
  • Controlled 2D drawing and 3D model
  • Critical features, tolerance and finish requirement
  • Quantity and delivery destination

Partner-factory feasibility, price and lead time are confirmed per project after the technical review.
