CNC RFQ File Naming: How to Make a Drawing Package Easier to Review

RFQ CONTROL / CNC MACHINING INSIGHTS

File names do not replace a controlled drawing revision, but they can make an RFQ package easier to review. Clear names help identify the model, PDF and supporting documents that belong together.

Use one visible revision

Match the drawing title-block revision, model filename and RFQ reference. Avoid “final” and “latest,” which do not establish the released source.

See our revision control guide for a practical release approach.

Separate models, drawings and reference files

Label the PDF drawing and the 3D model clearly, and remove or mark superseded documents. Keep material, finish and critical notes in the controlled package.

Our CAD file guide explains the role of each file in a CNC RFQ.

Make the release reviewable

If a feature needs attention, include the relevant inspection note in the same released package. See our inspection guide.

RFQ check: send one current model, one controlled PDF drawing, and clearly identified supporting documents that all reference the same revision.
